On Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Downtown Melbourne Botanical Festival, GreenSpace Water Alliance connected with hundreds of residents ready to take action for cleaner water and a healthier Indian River Lagoon.

And they didn’t just listen—they acted.

44 rain barrels were distributed at the event.

Through three workshops, we showed families and homeowners how to:

• Conserve water at home

• Reduce polluted stormwater runoff

• Protect our lagoon and local waterways

Just one 55-gallon rain barrel has the potential to prevent thousands of gallons of polluted runoff each year from reaching our impaired waterways.

Now multiply that by the 137 rain barrels we have deployed already this year.

Collective volunteerism and action makes a difference.
